I'm a direct descendant of John Reel and Mary Ann Tennessee through their daughter, Mary Reel, who married Job Pendergrass c1789 in North Carolina. I am seeking information on this family. Here is what I have, which isn't much: Mary Reel, born c1763, Craven Co, NC; died bef. 1831, Old Fort, North Carolina; married Job Pendergrasss (his second wife)c1789 in NC. Parents of Mary Reel: John Reel and Mary Ann Tennessee (No other info available). Job Pendergrass, born 1753, Old Fort, Burke (now McDowell) Co, North Carolina; died 15 April 1831, Old Fort, North Carolina; married (first) Nancy Ann Edwards, c1774, Orange Co, NC; (second) Mary Reel, c1789, Orange Co, NC; some researchers state that Mary Reel was a Cherokee Indian. Job and Nancy Ann Edwards Pendergrass had three children: John Pendergrass m -- Coulter William Titus Pendergrass m Sarah Stephens, a cousin to Alexander Hamilton Stephens, Vice President of the Confederacy during the Civil War. Samuel Cornell Pendergrass married twice, names unknown. Job and Mary Reel Pendergrass had the following children: Jesse Reel Pendergrass m Euley Ann Finger Moses Pendergrass m Margaret Burton Martha Pendergrass Thomas Pendergrass m (first) Nancy Picket, (second) Mary Ann LNU. Christian Pendergrass m Martin Van Buren Beaver (These are my ggg-grandparents). Henry James "Jasper" Pendergrass m Mary O. "Polly" Beaver, Martin Beaver's sister). Mary Pendergrass m. Thomas Porter Family tradition has it that Job Pendergrass had the tip of his ear shot off in the Battle of King's Mountain, 7 Oct 1780, Cleveland County, North Carolina.
