Thanks, Linda. I saw Joshua and Stasey, too, and thought they might be Obid's children. These Reeders seem to have followed pretty much the same path as all these other folks I'm studying. I'm starting to get a picture of the upland south re-created in south-central IL! If my Josiah, Sr. is who I think he is, his family came from Anson Co. NC, not too far from Rutherford Co., and then some of them moved to Union Co. SC, just south of Rutherford Co. Josiah, Sr. and his young family migrated to TN, but some of his uncles and maybe brothers settled in KY before going to IL. (It is Josiah, Jr., born 1827 IL who married the Jane born 1825 SC.)
As you probably know, there are bunches of Gregorys in Jefferson, Wayne and Hamilton counties IL, and I wouldn't be surprised if Sarah Gregory Reeder were kin to them. There are a couple of Dobbs-Gregory marriages in the next generation, too.
Two of the other families I'm looking at, who seem to have long-standing ties with the Dobbs/Dabbs family are the Haneys and the Blantons. Do you show any relationships between either of them and your Reeders?
Also, I ran across a reference to a Matilda Jane Reeder marrying Augustus B.F. Dobbs on 1/25/1849 in Parke Co. IN. Do you have her? I don't know yet who he is, but he goes to IL shortly thereafter.
Thanks again,
Kate
