A cataloged auction at Stair Galleries in Hudson, NY, on September 12-13, 2009, will include 2 portraits of Mr. & Mrs. Phillip Reed of Amenia, NY, painted by Ammi Philips c. 1850. The portraits are pictured in an advertisement in the August, 2009, issue of MAINE ANTIQUE DIGEST, p. 36-D, and they are also posted in color on the gallery's website (at least temporarily) at: www.stairgalleries.com
These fine portraits should be made known to the Reed family. I am scanning the black and white pictures of them in the magazine and would be happy to send them by email to any descendants or Reed family researchers who would have an interest in them. Unfortunately, the pictures in the magazine are only in black and white and printed on newsprint, so they are not of the highest quality by any means.

If they were portraits of a Pease family couple, I certainly hope someone who found them would do the same for me.
