Johann Nicolaus Reeb, the name may be found also as Reb and/or Rape. He was son of Gustavus Reeb and Anna Margaretha Stroh, and was born in 1739, in the village of Pisdorf, Nassau-Saarwerden,which is presently known as Bischtroff-sur-Sarre, France.
We have found him in Pennsylvania records during the 1760s and we learned he was married to Christina Mueller. He was one of the three younger brothers of Johann Peter Reeb who followed Peter to Pennsylvania. Nicolaus married a girl from Wolfskirchen, whose name was Christina Mueller. He attended the same church his older brother which was St. Michaels and Zion Lutheran Church in the city of Phildelphia. Nicolaus and Christina had three sons baptized in that church in the 1770s. We have the dates of birth and dates of baptism for those sons. We also have on paper which shows that Christina, wife of Nicolaus Rape Sr. died in 1798. We also have another paper which shows that Jacob Heinrich Rape, son of Nicolaus died 26 June 1811 in Philadelphia. So far we are still searching and hoping to eventually find more information and would love to hear from a living breathing descendant of Nicolaus Reeb, also known as Reb and Rape and quite possible other variations of the Reeb name. The three sons were Johann Peter born 1772, Jacob Heinrich born 1774 and died 1811, and Johann Nicolaus Reeb (Jr) born 1778. We have been searching for years but this year finally, a Pennsylvania cousin found a paper containing mention of Christina's death. If anyone who reads this sees or hears of the Nicolaus Reeb or Rape as mentioned above please let us hear from you.
John V. Reeb
