Many years ago I had seen the Carriker family information in North Carolina. I was very curious as it was North Carolina where so many of the Rape family descendants of Johann Peter REEB, so I contacted one member of the Carriker family with the news about our finding in the Reeb family in the Lutheran Church records and how Anna Margaretha Reeb who was an aunt to Peter REEB whose descendants became Rape and her marriage to Johann Philip Karcher. There was already a large Karcher family in the old County of Nassau-Saarwerden (now part of Bas-Rhin, France when this Johann Philipp Karcher came to the region from Germany. If he was related to any of the numerous Karchers who lived in the area of Wolfskirchen and what is now the present day city of Sarre-Union, I was unable to learn.

I do have many Karchers in my data who resided in the area. I collected many as I knew about the the Carriker family who sometimes are known as Karriker in North Carolina. If I can learn exactly who may have been the immigrant ancestor for the Karcher descendants in NC I will be happy to check my data just in case they could have come from the same region as the Reeb/Rape family.

John V. Reeb
