I should have gone back to re-read my own posts prior to responding to yours. I engaged my mouth (fingers)before my brain in this case and after I did re-read my own earlier posts on the John Reeb & Elisabeth Michael family I realized that I had misunderstood the intent of your post. My apologies. I think that the information which I will provide to you via snail mail will be very helpful to you and answer many of your questions. Your direct line of REEB ancestry has been traced to Heinrich Reeb born in 1599 and baptized then in the Lutheran faith in the village of Herbitzheim then property of the Counts of Nassau-Saarwerden. The father of this infant Heinrich Reeb is only known to us by his name of Jacob Reeb also spelled REB. The mothers and other female's in that early churchbook entry were not given, however, the entry did state that one of the god-parents was the wife of Heinrich Reeb. This Heinrich Reeb is my own direct ancestor. I have no proof but some circumstantial evidence that my Heinrich was a brother to your Jacob and to a Nicolaus Reeb (who I do have documents to prove was a brother to Jacob). My Heinrich Reeb had a son named Nicolaus and a daughter named Agness. In the mid 1600s my own ancestor Nicolaus Reeb, son of Heinrich then deceased at Keskastel, was living in Keskastel and your Heinrich Reeb was living in a small village known as Bissert. Soon after the Thirty Years War Heinrich moved to Keskastel and then soon after that Nicolaus moved to his wife's villge of Pisdorf (now Bischtroff-sur-Sarre).
I will be reading your posts and e-mail closely and will try to respond to some of the questions you mentioned and hopefuly we can clear up some of the confusion caused by different reference sources. For a few years prior to her death I did correspond with Gertrude Ziegler who published two books. One for the records of St. Paul's church in Zelienople and one for St. Peter's. Prior to the publication of her books Mrs. Ziegler had answered many of my questions as I attempted to compile as much of the genealogy on the descendants of Theobald Reeb and some of the other Reebs who had come from Keskastel to Butler County, PA. Also, I had some assistance from quite a few interested REEB & RAPE family members from Butler County. Many of them have since passed away.
John V. Reeb
