First, please accept my apology if I have already responded to you through some other medium or if not for not doing so before now. I have had some health issues during the past few months and it has taken a long time for me to get things back into order. Anyway, I do know your Earl L. Reeb's ancestry back to the year 1599... when his earliest known ancestor Jacob Reeb's son Heinrich Reeb was baptized in Herbitzheim, Nassau-Saarwerden (now France). According to my records, Earl L. Reeb was born 20 June 1890 in Paulding County, OH. His father was David Clifford Reeb born 10 Dec 1858 in Paulding County, Ohio. Clifford's father was Jost Reeb born 11 May 1832 in Keskastel, Bas-Rhin, France. Jost was son of Johann Jost Reeb born 14 Jun 1788 in Keskastel (then in Nassau-Weilburg). This last Johann Jost Reeb was son of Johann Jost Reeb, born 14 Jun 1762 in Keskastel, Nassau-Weilburg. His father was Hans Georg Reeb born 20 May 1730 in Keskastel, Nassau-Saarwerden. His father was Claudius Reeb baptized 20 Apr 1692 in Keskastel. His father was Hans Thiebold Reeb baptized 1 May 1653 in Keskastel. His father was Heinrich Reeb baptized 14 July 1599 in Herbitzheim which is only about 5 0r 6 kilometers just north of Keskastel. As I said in the beginnig Heinrich was son of Jacob... but the churchbooks have no earlier dated records than that. We do have some documentation, however, indicating our REEBS were living just on the other side of the Sarre River from Keskastel in a tiny village known even in present times as RECH as early as 1480s. Even one very old record mentioned a Hans Reeb born 1523 in Rech who later moved to Keskastel. Some REEB participated in the Great Peasant War (farmers rebellion against the nobility) in 1525 at Herbitzheim. That REEB gentleman would have had to be born in the nearby region at least by 1505 if he was as old as 20 years. If I can be of any help let me know.

John V. Reeb
