Hi.Thankyou very much for the information.Dorothy and James appear to be resident in Yester parish as a child was born there.Marjory in 1853.Can you advise me on how to proceed to obtain James Nichols fathers name.I know his mother was Mary Nichol and she was born in Lanton Northumberland about 1770.I am trying to ascertain if there is any link to the Nichol family in Selkirk namely Thomas Nichol who resided at and ran the Philipshaugh sawmill.My grandmothers name was Dorothy Redpath Nichol.Its great to find information about my family and Im quite enjoying it.Thanks once again.Michele.
