Redmon/Redman-Copeland AR marriages
W.A. Redman b abt 1851 Franklin Co AR (son of Armstead b 1814). W.A. married
Louisa E. Copeland - no data - 1 March 1874 in Marion Co, AR
Source quoted is Donald R. Redman April 2000.
What I have on another line I´m chasing is a
William A. Redman b abt 1855, AR, mother possibly Elizabeth Brown b abt 1830 TN. and father (the inevitable) unknown Redman
This William married first Louisa Copeland - no data - which I estimate would have been in about 1875. William and Louisa lived in Searcy Co, AR, and had six children among whom was possibly a
Frank Redman - no data.
There are two sources for this Redman-Copeland marriage: one a GEDCOM by Shirley Faye Treadwell and the other personal communication with descendants of Elizabeth Brown and her second husband, Isaac Shipman. The Treadwell GEDCOM lists six children for William A. Redman and Louisa Copeland, whereas the other source lists only four and does not include Frank.
Now, on 17 July, 1902, in Searcy Co, AR, a Charles Frank Redman (1875-1938 AR) married a Mary Louisa Treat (1883-1962 AR). The source for this marriage is
*Ruby Lacy, "Arkansas, Searcy County, Marriages: Volume II, 1896-1905,"
(privately published: Ashland, OR, 1985) p 23; listed as "Frank Redman, 25,
Landis" to "Louisa Treat, 18, Landis" on 17 Jul 1902, bk F, pg 418
"Frank" and Louisa settled and raised a family in White Co, AR, and they and their children are buried at Providence Cemetery in Judsonia, White Co, AR.
Among their children was an Oscar Redman (1905-1956 AR) who married a lady named Emma - no data.
My great grandfather was Oscar Redman (1868-1941 AR) and in all my research I have never come across another Oscar Redman. So I am wondering if my Oscar and the other are somehow related. There are so many similarities and coincidences - and particularly the two Redman-Copeland marriages at virtually the same time - they are difficult to ignore.
Since the source for the first Redman-Copeland marriage is Donald R. Redman I would like to know if you have an email address for him? I´ve looked and havén´t found it. Or any other information that will lead me to someone who might be able to elaborate.
