I read with some interest your questions and responses to the "Redman" name. There are several variations to it-Redmon-Redmond plus a few others. One of my ggrandmothers was a Redman. She was born in Ky. in 1826 and died in Ill. inearly 1900s.Her family came from Va. There are still Redmans in Va., Ky. and Ill. from that line.My ancesters were slave holders prior to 1800 in Va.The Family came from Northern Ireland, Ulster. They were, I believe, the so-called Scotsh-Irish.These Scotsh-Irish came in the main from Galloway, Scotland and Cumbria, England in the early 1600s to Ulster. In the mid 1700s these Scotsh-Irish came to the colonies. A good example of this migration is Pres. Andrew Jacksons family.A note on my message here is, "This is a generality."
