I've recently started looking into my family history. I know we are from north Edinburgh in the 1700's and earlier, and were commonly known as Reedhead, Then to the village Reev (?) in Northumberland about the 1800's and become Redhead and were 'Reevers'.

A George Redhead emigrated to New Zealand about 1860 with his wife, but drowned during a ship wreck in the Cook Straights about 1866 leaving his wife and young family. I know of our relatives in Timaru, near Christchurh, N.Z.

Does any of this 'cross over' anywhere with other 'Reedhead - Redhead' information anyone may have ?

I am seeking general possible links to my family to follow up, and to possibly help other people with their searches.
