Thomas Redhead in Birkenhead 1850

My Husband's GG grandfatehr was Thomas Redhead, a shipowner in Birkenhead. He had 8 children, so there must be many Redhead descendants around. He originally came from Newcastle/Durham area as did several other Redheads of the same generation. I am thinking that the others, John and Joseph may be Thomas' brothers.

The available directories for the early 1800's show that there was a Wm Redhead in Newcastle/N Shields who was also a shipowner, so I am thinking that he may have been a relative.

Has anyone else been researching a Thomas Redhead who came to Birkenhead around 1850 or 1851? His two oldest children William and Elizabeth were born in Middleton York, while the rest Joseph Elliot, Agnes, Maud, Grace, Laura and Sarah were all born in Birkenhead.

My husband is a descendant of William Redhead, although his grandfather changed his name to Reedhead. He is also Merle's cousin. She had posted a few months ago.

Thanks for any help

Nelly Reedhead
