Matthew Stacy Redding, Morgan County, IL, b. abt 1833

To whom it may concern:

I am looking for ancestors of Matthew Stacy Redding born about 1883.

Several family trees list him as either Matthew Stacy, Matthew S. and Matthew L. Redding. The earliest source record I have found is an 1860 Federal Census showing his resident as Jacksonville, Morgan County, Illinois. On 4 Jul 1852 Matthew married Sarah Jane Dean of Morgan County, Illinios (born in Virginia). They had the following children; John L. 1857, Mare E. 1859, Oliver Perry 1861, Jacob 1864 - 1934, Charles 1867, George 1869, Rosa 1871, James M. 1873, and Rufus Chsuing 1875 (my great grandfather).

Several family trees list Jacob Redding of Morgan County, Illinois as Matthew's Father. However, I can find no source documentation. In an 1860 Federan Census the birthplace of Matthew's parents is listed as Alabama.

Another source indicates Jacob Redding was from Germany.

If you can help me find historical records / ancestors of Matthew Stacy Redding, please contact me.

Sincerely,

Jeff Redding
