Hi Penni,
I have the contact information for Shirley Reddick somewhere among my notes.Give me a day or two to overturn the stacks of printed material & upset the mice and I'll probably find the notes.
My father was Carl Ernest Reddick (1909 - 1994), who married Evelyn Taylor (1915 - 1999).My father taught at Fort Gordon and so I grew up in Richmond County, attending Hephzibah High School.I visited in Screven Co. nearly every weekend during my childhood, staying at my maternal grandmother's house and visiting around with my parents. My father had a number of double first cousins in the county along with the usually large number of 'regular' first cousins - my paternal grandparents grew up in families with nine and eleven children, so my father had (and still has, if he were still with us) a quite large number of first cousins.I can clearly remember being 'dazed and confused' by all of these cousins with similar-sounding or the same names who I would meet once or twice or else 20 times - but, never really understand how they related to me.Now, thirty-odd years later, I'm finally figuring out how they were related...
There are several Nicholas Reddicks who lived in Screven Co.I know of at least three. Two of them are in our direct lineage. The third is Nicholas Moses Reddick, who was born in Screven Co. but moved to the area of what is now Colquitt Co.
My Reddick lineage is as follows:
Carl Ernest - father - 1909-1994
Causey Harmon - grandfather - 1885-1939
Arthur Warren - g-grandfather - 1853-1925
Nicholas- gg-grandfather - 1812-1883
John- ggg-grandfather - 17xx-18xx
Nicholas- gggg-grandfather - 17xx-1xxx
Nicholas' (gg-gfather) wife was Nancy Royal (1823-1883).
John's wife was Mary Anne Ivey (1790-1868).They were married in 1809.
These folk's would be in your lineage, as I believe that you g-grandfather George W. Reddick would be the brother of my g-grandfather Arthur Warren Reddick.I have a list of the children of both Nicholas & Nancy and of Aurthur W. and his wife Martha P. Sheley Reddick. It's somewhere in that stack needing to be overturned... :-)>
I'll find that contact information during one of the following evenings - soon.
Dale
