The above link will assist you in obtaining military record (DD-214). Once you have that, you can look up "after action reports" online. If he was injured, his name will appear on the report on the day it happened. You might be able to obtain unit rosters from the personnel records office of the branch he was in. This will list people he served with. A Veterans organization (VFW, American Legion) might be able to help too. Good luck. We thank your grandfather for our freedom!
