Redbone/Texas Cherokee Heritage. (Kennedy).

I am new to Genealogy boards. My Texas Cherokee Heritage is known to me but I have recently discovered that one of the so called "Irish" ancestors who mixed with that line may have been a Louisianna Redbone. Racist attitudes in the white family members on that line may have washed that information out. That Ancestors last name was Kennedy. Anyone know of the extent to which the Texas Cherokee and Red Bone Peoples mixed together? Is there any literature that says something about the subject? Also I have been told that Redbone is a mix of Scotch Irish, African and Cherokee, anyone know the validity of that? Are redbone and Melungeon the same people? or related? Did any Redbones have a historical presence in Arkansas as well? Any Information would be appreciated very much and it might possibly give me some direction to start researching the specifics. Thank you, Mr. Angel Robinson.
