Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

Hi Lora:
This might help you. I retained a note regarding someone who was looking for a death record in Chicago.
The reply was...
Write or call the
Illinois Regional Archives Depository
Ronald Williams Library, 5500 N St Louis Ave,
Chicago, Ill 60625-4699

They will check all death records and send you a copy at no charge. Be sure to give as much info as you can for her.

Whether the above information is still valid today, I don't know but it's worth a shot.

This is the site for the Illinois Regional Archives Depository
http://library.neiu.edu/whereinthelibrary/irad.html

When you access the website, it references birth records as well as death records. Perhaps this will help you.
Good luck. Carolyn
