John A. W. Record and Esther Hakes

Hi. I'm a third great granddaughter of John A. W. Record. Esther Hakes and John A. W. Record. John married Esther Hakes, daughter of Rensselaer Hakes, on 22 Apr 1831. Together they had 8 children, 1 son and 7 daughters. At least two of the daughters died before marrying and having children. Also, the son, S. Ambrose W. Record never married. I have put some of the information I have about John and Esther on a website. There is a picture of Esther, also pictures of her family Bible. There are also pictures of her daughters, Julia Ann Record Kimble and Lovina Jane Record Carson (my great great grandmother), and Esther's son, S. Ambrose W. Record. These pictures and the Bible were given to me by Esther's great granddaughters -- my paternal grandmother and her sister.

John A. W. Record, his wife Esther and their children moved from Berlin, Rensselaer County, NY after the 1855 New York state census and before the death of their daughter, Alvira, who died in Hallock, Peoria County, IL, on 17 Feb 1857. John A. W. Record died in Hallock, Peoria County, IL on 31 May 1861.

If anyone knows anything about John A. W. Record, Esther's husband, and his birth family, I would certainly appreciate hearing from you. He is my brick wall. I am not sure who his parents were.

I would also enjoy hearing from anyone who descended from the family of John A. W. Record and Esther B. Hakes Record Button Reed.

If you contact me, I will be more than happy to email you the website where these pictures and information are posted.

Thank you.

Deborah Astley
