Hi,
I am looking for Josiah or John Recoed. One of them was in Dallas Co. TX in 1865 and one of them mudered John E. Holland and one of them was hung for it. I have an old diary written by a Hayes descsndant John E. Hollands wife was Martha Hayes Holland and in it is the story of the murder of John E. Holland bt John Record. These people were living in Dallas Co. TX. I could not find a John Holland in Dallsd Co. but I did find a Josiah Recoed. Then I tryed to find Josiah on the 1870 census but he was not there now putting two and two together it makes a strong case that John Record was really Josiah Record. Does anyone have any information about this Josiah Record. On the 1860 census his wife was Linna children were Syvester,Frances,Jacob,Jn a male,Hester Ann,Silas, and Otis.It would be fun to find out why Record killed Holland.
