Re: Doris Preston's Bible

My great-grandmother is a Grace Corliss and the birthdate of 1877 fits nicely.

Grace was possibly born in Fredrick VA, married Adam Henry Hoefner, had 4 children, Charlotte Elizabeth (Hoefner) McGrath, b Mar 6, 1919, d Oct 10, 1977, David Hoefner, Elizabeth "Lily" (Hoefner) Eckert, Grace (Hoefner) Foltz. Charlotte married Thomas Francis McGrath and had 6 kids. I am a descendant of Charlotte. Elizabeth married Bernard Eckert, had a son Bernard. Grace married John Foltz, had children Albert and Grace. Albert Foltz was in Russia during WWII as a merchant marine.

There is a family myth that Grace's father or grandfather may have been a University Professor (taught English?) in Onsabruk, Prussia and was executed in the 1850s or 1860s for some reason. Charlotte may have been the child of Graces' brother, a Dr. Corliss, who gave her up after the young mother died in childbirth. Dr. Corliss subsequently went on the have 7 boys with a new wife.

All of this is very anecdotal and right now it is at a dead-end. If this rings a bell with anybody in the Reck family, please drop me an e-mail at:
