I'm looking for anyone researching the Reasons in North Carolina.
I'm trying to find any connections or really any help in finding my line.
Here's what I do know.....
My grandfather was Benjamin Franklin Reason. He was born July 26,
1919 in Roper NC, and died April 6, 2000 in Moyock, NC. He married Edith Hope
His father was James Herman Reason. James was born around 1879 or
1880 in North Carolina. He married Annie Jones. I don't know anything about
Annie. They had eight children, Ernest, Pete, Lomas, Bryant, Carlton, Ben,
Willard, and Mae. A death certificate says that another child was born after
Ben, my grandfather who was the youngest out of them all, but was stillborn.
James' parents were Edwood (Edward) Reason and Nancy Caroline
Spruill. Edwood was born around 1851. Nancy was born around 1855. Both born
in North Carolina. They had four children by the 1880 census, Robert C., Piny
E., Bertha L., and James H.
This is where I come to a block. In the 1880 census James' mother
Piny was living with him and his family. Earlier cenuses show Piny was
married to Riley Reasons. I don't know though because different years of the
census conflict with each other. In the 1850 census it shows a Riley Reasons
married to a Piny Reasons. They have six children, Harriett E., Abner C.,
Sally E., Chloe F., John L., and Riley E. If my great great grandfather was
in this family he would have been born in 1851 and in the 1860 census. But of
course knowing my luck the 1860 census doesn't show names just ages. In the
1860 there is a child aged 11 that could be Edwood but the wife is different!
In the 1870 census it shows a Riley again married to Pinny but the children
are different. So basically I am completely lost.
I ask that anyone researching this surname or any one of these
Reasons please reply. Any help at all would be appreciated.
