From your research I wonder if you might have come across a Samuel Reaney born around June 1862 in Scotland who emigrated to the US in 1879. He was a shipbuilder and married Elizabeth Hanna(h) in Wyandotte MI in 1881. Elizabeth's family lived in Chester PA and had emigrated in 1872. I don't know how they met. They had three girls (one my grandmother) Elizabeth died and he moved to Buffalo NY and remarried and had two sons by 1900.
