Archibald seems to be a popular name in the REANEY family. The first Archibald REANEY in my line that I know was born on 30 September 1820 in Ballymoney Parish, Antrim, Ireland. He married Nancy MCCONNEL(L)on 16 December 1842 in County Antrim, Ireland. This couple came to the US in about 1847. He was naturalized on 4 November 1859. Archie lived in Lexington, Illinois, but at some later date he moved to Iowa. This Archibald died on 17 January 1876 in Iowa. His widow lived with her daughter, Nancy MCCRACKEN, in Illinois, and with her youngest son, James REANEY, in Iowa until her death on 26 February 1920. The parents of this Archibald REANEY are said to be John REANEY and Martha GRAHAM. The parents of Archie's wife, Nancy MCCONNELL REANEY are said to be William MCCONNEL and Elizabeth Hopkins.

I descend from the son of Archibald and Nancy REANEY, Archibald E. REANEY, who was born in Lexington, Illinois, on 22 September 1855.

There was an Archibald REANEY family in Pennsylvania during the Civil War; this Archibald and son were shipbuilders. I don't know the relationship of the two families.
