John and Nancy (Ruffner) Ream (Armstrong Co., PA)
I am looking for information on John REAM, son of Henry and Catherine (HUTTON) REAM, born about 1827 (based on the 1850 census). Henry was christened Johann Heinrich REAM in 1801 at Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church. Henry died in 1853 and is buried in the Bethel Church cemetery. Son John had three brothers (Abraham, James and George) and two sisters (Susannah and Mary). My wife and daughters descend directly from a John REAM who died in Armstrong County in 1902. He and a "Mrs. John Ream" (who died also in 1902) are buried in Kittanning Cemetery. I believe my wife's great-great-grandfather John REAM to be the son of Henry REAM. A collateral source indicates that Henry's son John married a "Harriet" (no last name given) in about 1892; my wife's great-great-grandfather John married Nancy RUFFNER in about 1855 and settled with seven children (Jacob, James, Archie, John, twins Mathilda & Martha, and William), the last born in 1875, in Kittanning. I have been trying to prove/disprove for sure that these two Johns are one in the same. I have checked with the Armstrong County Historical Society already, but think that Bethel Evangelical Lutheran Church may hold the answer, particularly if Henry's son John was christened there in about 1827 and, perhaps, even married there in about 1855. I am also curious to know if the "Mrs. John Ream" buried in the Kittanning Cemetery is Nancy (RUFFNER) REAM or, perhaps, "Harriet." The cemetery records had no amplifying data.
