Is anyone researching James W. Reagan and Margaret "Peggy" Lay? According to information I've read on the internet, they were married in Pulaski County, Kentucky in 1827. The surety was Burrell Lay. James and Margaret moved to Allen County, Kentucky before 1850 and are in the 1850 through 1880 census records there. They must have died between 1880 and 1900 since they are not in the 1900 census there.
It is said that Peggy was the daughter of Burrell Lay and Leannah Newell of Pulaski County, Kentucky. I would like to know what the sources for this are. Her birthdate is usually given as 1803 although Burrell and Leannah were not married until November 1804. I am wondering if it is possible that she was not their daughter.
Could Peggy have been married to a person named Harrison Lay before her marriage to Reagan? And could this Harrison Lay have been the son of Burrell and Leannah Newell Lay? I'm just grasping at straws! I would like to talk to someone who has reseached this couple. Thanks!
