I am looking for the birth year, location, and parents of a particular Francis M. Reagan. (This search is driving me nuts.) He was the husband of my second cousin 4 times removed: Vianna or Vienna McKinsey, daughter of Samuel McKinsey and Eusebia Rogers. According to Mrs. Ruby Mundell Barry's book "George W. McKinsey....", they were married on 12 Jul 1865. That would make him born about 1841, give or take a few years. The book lists 9 children: 1)Ella May Reagan, b 30 May 1873, d. 19 Sep 1874; 2)Frederick Emmet McKinsey Reagan b 12 Dec 1876, d. 3 May 1939, 3)Lu Disey Reagan, b19 Oct 1878, d. 3 Jan 1946; 4)Nellie Myrtle Reagan, b31 Oct 1879, living in 1969; 5)Lottie Pearl Reagan b. 9 Mar 1882, d.1 Feb 1958; 6)Charley Earl Reagan b.9 Mar 1882, d.15 Feb 1939; 7)Nettie Frances Reagan b.23 Mar 1884, d.1 Jan 1957; 8)Thomas Oscar Reagan, b 12 Jun 1886, d.26 Jan 1942; and 9)Gertrude Reagan b.26 Oct 1888. In the 1880 census of Boone County, Clinton Twp., Indiana, it shows Vienna Reagan 25, bIN, D (Divorced), housekeeper in the dwelling of George West 20 and his brother Hugh 18, with her children: Frederick 5, Lucinda 3, and Nellie M. 6/12 b. Oct. The D was very light. Erased? The McKinsey book gives 9 children total but no second husband. In the 1900 census of Center County, Frankfort, Indiana, it shows Reagan Anna b Apr 1856 44 b.Indiana, wd, 8ch/8lvg; Fred b Dec 1875 24 Indiana; Dicy b Oct 1879 20 Indiana. A Charles E. Reagan appears on the next page as a boarder, b Mar 1881 18, Indiana. Some of the information differs from that of the McKinsey book, but the months and names are right and the birth years are usually off by only a year. Anna's is off 10 years, but maybe she had reasons. Since Vienna (Anna) is a widow in 1900 and Francis M.'s death is given as 7 May 1916 in the McKinsey book, I question a few things about the book. Did Francis and Vienna remarry? Was there a second Reagan husband? A Francis M. Reagan volunteered for Civil War service shortly before the 1865 marriage, but after the War was over. Does that explain the lack of children between 1866 and 1873? I am at a complete loss. Would any descendants of Francis and Vienna please check in? Notify Administrator about this message?
