Linda
Thank you, not many contacts for your interesting name
Somewhere I have a 'paper tree' before computer research, on the family going back to France, will check it out for you. I think it came from the HAYMAN side.
My own data goes back to Samuel 1706 who married Eliz LONGLEY
Then I have Martin 1785 married Elizabeth Frances READER
You say there were 2 marriages to Reader families
My family tree on my wife's side includes this
"Elizabeth MARRINER was born Abt. 1790 in Keighley Yorkshire, and died 02 Aug 1862 in Forest Hill, Kent Sydenham. She married William Henry WHITTELL 1814, son of ? WHITTELL. He was born Abt. 1790, and died 1856 in Forest Hill, Kent. Lewisham GRO. 1d/418.
ELIZABETH MARRINER: Probate: £12, 000. Exec. Benj. MARRINER of Keighley, Spinner
WILLIAM HENRY WHITTELL: Woolstapler & Brickmaker of Staple Street, Bermondsey, Surrey and Forest Hill. Kent. Left his estate to be divided in equal proportions between his dear wife Elizabeth and children, William Morgan Whittell, John Wylde Whittell, Charlotte Dubin KEEN [ of Brentford ] ?, Mary Ann Brown WHITTELL Also " to Samuel Pell WHITTELL, Rose Lee [ wife of George Frederick KNOX/ Euppam,]Mary Ann WHITTELL and Elizabeth WHITTELL, the four children of my nephew Samuel Uppum WHITTELL the sum of £50. Also a Freehold estate at [Earlesaupton?] Oakhampton Co of Devon purchased from the estate of Christopher Savile Esq 1845 Executors included Reader MOURILYAN of Staple St, Bermondsey, Woolstapler, given no.3 Staple St in Will. Will: No 99. Proved in London April 18th 1856
One can only assume that his son William Morgan WHITTELL named a younger son Reader Mourilyan Whittell knowing the link having been born in Bermondsey in 1817
He moved to Devon, a Miller in 1851, then to Torquay a Landowner died 1898
Can you contact me on my email so I can send you more on the Mourilyans
