Cree, you mentioned Montgomery Township, so I assume you're referring to Franklin County, right? If so, then we may have a connection.
My g-g-grandfather was James Azel Rea, b. 1827 in Cumberland County (probably Hopewell Township) and his brother was John Allen Rea, b. 1813 in Franklin County. I have found a Daniel Rea, one of only two Reas enumerated in the 1820 census of Montgomery Township, Franklin County who had any children. His youngest son's age range matches that of John Allen Rea in 1820 (who would have been 7), and since Daniel is the ONLY Rea in the entire county with children and I KNOW (from a biographical sketch of John's son, William) that John was born in Franklin County, it's almost a certainty that Daniel Rea has to be my g-g-g-grandfather. The bio sketch of William Bishop Rea also says that Daniel was from Scotland, that he was a stone mason by trade (though the 1820 census says he was a farmer, he may have pursued both occupations), and that he died at about age 70 from injuries he received when a horse he was riding fell on him.
Now, obviously, my John Allen Rea isn't your John Rea, who was born 6 years earlier, but, if your John was born in Montgomery Township, Franklin County I think it's a no-brainer that we're cousins. Let me know what you have. Meanwhile, you see my data at: http://reagenealogy.topcities.comhttp://reagenealogy.topcities.com.
