Francis Rea (d. 1805) of County Antrim
I would like to communicate with anyone who might know the point of origin in County Antrim, Ireland of Francis Rea.He was a passenger aboard the ship "Lord Dunluce" which arrived in Charleston, SC from Larne, Ireland on 20 Dec 1772, one of five ships led by the Covenanter Presbyterian minister Rev. William Martin.Francis Rea at first lived in Chester County, SC then moved to York County 1797-1800.He died there leaving a will of 2 Feb 1804, proved 8 Aug 1805.His wife, Sarah, also left a will of 22 Mar 1816, proved 4 July 1816.Their children were-
1.William Rea.Born 1770-2, last recorded 1 Oct 1816 in Chester County, SC.Wife unknown, he was the father of William Francis Rea (1799-1882), who thereafter adopted Francis Ray as his name and settled in Roane County, TN.
2.Mary Rea.Born 1772-80, died 1816-20 in Lincoln County, NC.Married 1805-7 to Randle Elmore.She had an illegitimate daughter, Rachel Jamison, born 1792, who was still unmarried in 1862, living with her spinster aunts Elizabeth and Sarah Rea in York County.
3.Alexander Rea.Born 1772-3, living 24 Dec 1805.Family unknown.
4.Andrew Rea.Born c1774, died 1794-1803, unmarried, and leaving his siblings as his heirs.
5.Francis Rea.Born 1775-84, died 1806-10, unmarried, probably in York County, SC, leaving his sisters as his heirs.
6.Elizabeth Rea.Born 1781, died 1863 in York County, unmarried, leaving a will of 1 Sept 1862, proved 9 Mar 1863.
7.Sarah Rea.Born 1784.She died in York County, unmarried, leaving a will of 18 Aug 1862, proved 16 Jan 1863.
