Would be happy to exchange any information about these Reas. They do not appear to be closely related to most of the Reas in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, NC.

THOMAS RAY/REA and wife MARY, both born in Ireland, appeared to be living in New Jersey until about 1859. Their children born there were Mary, Sarah E., William J., Ellen J., Samuel J., Charles T., and Margaret. They then moved to New York, possibly upstate around Cohoes, where son Joseph, and daughter Katie were born.

SAMUEL J. REA (b. 1855 NJ) married MARGARET McCARTHY (B. 1859 NY)about 1877. They lived in Schenectady and Cohoes area of NY for most of their marriage. Their children were Thomas E., James W., Henry, Elizabeth, Agnes E., Loretta, Sarah, and Charles.

THOMAS EDWARD REA (1879-1962) married SUSAN CARTER (b. 1881, Dover, DE) in Greensboro, Guilford County, NC, on 18 Apr 1900. They lived in Charlotte, Mecklenburg, NC for their entire married life. Their children were Anna R., Harry C., Thomas E., Jr., Margaret, Mildred C., Mary E., and William B.
