Hi Maurice,Thought Wolstencroft was an unusual name until I started searching, not easy with so many of the names being the same and I have not found a great deal more info than you have already.

1: 1841 census return, Halliwell( a former township of Deane) Ann Morris, aged 78, Farmer.
John Wolstencroft, age 51. Could this be your John living with his mother in law ?
2: marriage of Mary Wood & John Wolstencroft on the 24th November 1802. Manchester, Lancs. If John & mary married in 1802 both probably born before 1786 otherwise too young to get married. If mary was born 1785 would have been approx 17 when married.
3:There is a John wolstancroft xnd 8.05.1785, Ringley.
John Wolstancroft, xnd 4.01.1784, cathedral, Manchester.
John Woolstencroft, xnd 6.04.1786, Deane By Bolton.
There is a good site for checking Lancashire Church records which is : www.manchester.gov.uk
click the,Lancashire online parish clerk link which will take you to the church records for manchester and surrounding areas. Will keep looking. regards June
