Galway is in the Irish Republic. My line comes from Northern Ireland. A whole different story. As for the Irish Clans, do a search for "High Kings of Ireland" and you might have some luck in finding something on that. It sounds like your line may be native to Ireland, as some Reas were.

Where did the quote come from? I don't recognize it as anything that is on my Rea Surname DNA Project website and, as far as I know, it's the only Rea DNA project in existence.

But, I am somewhat familiar with the P.V. Rhea and the Campbell-Rhea connection, though. Matthew Campbell was wanted in the Scottish Highlands as an outlaw during the 1600's and fled to Northern Ireland, where he assumed the name Rhea, hence Matthew Campbell Rhea. All his descendants bear the name Rhea but are really descended from the Campbells. Not my line, though.

I'm afraid I don't know anything about this particular John Ray or Rhea you've mentioned.
