Dear June,
I followed with interest your exchanges with Gary.
In my American family. My earliest known ancestor is a James Ray who is found living in N.Carolina. marrys and has two sons: Jesse in 1804 and Robert in 1805.

Both sons name their first born son. William.

My ancestor Jesse told the tale: that the ray-rea family had lived near the lake Rea for a thousand years. But eventually the Clan (name unknown) broke into thirds. And the 1/3 living nearest the lake...took the name of the lake.
HAVE YOU HEARD THIS STORY BEFORE ? can it be verified?
Since my unknown emigrant must have came to America in late 1600 to mid 1700's interested in what information
I might expect to find in Ireland records.
Many thanks in advance for your time and considerations.
Bye.
