Raymonds-Woodruff Co, Ark/Ala-John or Jim
My great-grandfather was John Oram Raymond (b. November 25, 1902 Woodruff County, Arkansas, and d. June 16, 1986 White County, Arkansas). He was a barber, a Baptist minister, and a farmer. He married Elinor Lida Hay on January 10, 1923. They had two daughters: Joyce Helen and Cherry Merle Raymond. John Oram was the son of John/or Jim Malvern Raymond (b. August 17, 1873 Arkansas or Alabama?, and d. February 16, 1913 in Arkansas). He married Camilla Roy Douglas in 1895, and they had 9 children. John/Jim Malvern's father was John Oram Raymond (b. November 16, 1840, in Alabama, and d. January 25, 1917 in Arkansas). He married Mrs. Margaret Harper of Deview, Arkansas, and after her death, to a Mrs. Sallie Arden of Fitzhugh, Arkansas. This John Oram spent 4 years in the Confederate Army fighting for the south. He was in the livery business, and was a Methodist. He arrived in Woodruff County from Alabama as a mere boy. Please contact me with news that you know more than I know. Thanks for reading, and have a good day.
