Thanks for the information. I take it that Lil who died 2 years ago was the child of Francis Raymond & Elizabeth nee Hickey who was registered without a name (1910 N. Dublin 2.1.547.383) as born 30 March 1910.
I think we must be dealing with 2 John Raymonds, though there are clearly mysteries. Certainly the one who married Elizabeth Byrne at Eadestown 9 Jan 1882 described himself as of Kilteel and as son of Richard Raymond; and one of the witnesses was Catherine Raymond, presumably John's sister, who died unmarried (as Kate) 26 July 1917 at Kilteel aged 75. In 1901 and 1911 the John Raymond who was 62 and 79 respectively was living with his sister Catherine who is both times called head of family and aged 48 and then 68 (!!); in 1901 John is described as married, but in 1911 as a widower. Yet his wife Elizabeth apparently did not die till 25 Dec 1937 (grave SH 79 at Glasnevin). She had been living in Heytesbury Street Dublin since at least 1917 when she stood surety for her son as administrator of the will of Catherine Raymond.
I have not seen the Saggart entry in 1849, and don't know the details of it. My suspicion - it can be no more - is that it is irrelevant to the John Raymond of Kilteel who married Elizabeth Byrne. I note that there was a John Raymond who died Dublin 1868 aged 24, another who died there in 1899 aged 64, but no other possibilities apart from the John who died 14 April 1913 at Kilteel (and some infants, and some of the family in county Kerry) down to 1919 where my extracts from the death indexes stop; none of these though corresponds accurately with a birth in 1849.
