On 27 July 1703, William Rayfield proved his right at the Court in Little River to 200 acres of land for importing himself, his wife Ann and children Patience and William, from England. This was in the area that became Pasquotank Precinct and/or Chowan County, North Carolina. Sons James and John were also probably born in England but were not old enough to qualify for the 50 acres of land per person in 1703. The will of William Rayfield, Sr. of Alligator Precinct of Pasquotank Precinct, North Carolina was probated in 1731.
