I have information from the Smoky Mountain Clans Vol. 3 by Donald Reagan 1983 P144 Sevier County, Tn & Its Heritage. It shows John Raffiel& Elizabeth Marshall with 10 childern. I know they moved to North Carolina because my great grand dad(Rudolph Leatherman) married Harriet in Lincolnton, NC in approx. 1839. They met in Sevierville,TN when Rudolph went there to buy mules. He convinced John Rayfield to move to NC and later married Harriet and her grave is at a church in Lincoln County, NC. I do not have info. as to where John moved to but it was close to Lincolnton, NC. Our Leatherman family has been traced to Mattstall, Germany(1727) and I have visited the town. Harriet Rayfield's birth date and birth place has been a missing link for me. I hope some one can help since we now know where she was born and her father moved to NC. Thanks for any info. and contact me anytime at FD@NC.rr.com Harriet was supposed to be over 100 years old. Thanks again, Frank Leatherman
