Hello Linda
Can't believe you posted your information back in 2000, wonder what I have been doing to not have checked on my Ray line in Genforum sooner.
There is not any more info that I can supply you other than what I have posted. Some footnote's I'll post, they might be of help
My James Thomas Melton(Milton) who married Sarah Ann Ray was united with the Methodist Episcopal Church.
At the age of 19, from 1860 to 1865, he freighted from Leavenworth to Denver by way of the North Platte and from Leavenworth to Fort Union, New Mexico, by way of the Old Santa Fe Trail, when Kansas was nothing but a prairie.
In the Spring of 1888 he moved his family to Nemaha county, Kansas and lived there until 1908, when he moved to Wabaunsee county, Kansas. His wife Sarah Ann died in 1910 and is buried at Pleasent Ridge Cemetery, Chalk Mound, Wabaunsee Co., KS.
The 1880 Census shows James Milton(Melton) living in Platte Co., Pettis twp, Missouri at 36 yrs of age as was his family.
Hope this is of some help. Wonder if the Melton's and Ray's did migrate together?
William
