In September, 1865 a Henry Rawnsley, an engineer who some say once served on the general staff of Robert E. Lee, surveyed St. Helena Island in Queensland, Australia and reported as to its suitability for a Quarantine station. Does anyone know anything about this individual? Does anyone know if he ever served during the American Civil War? Any help will be appreciated.
