Just to say that I'm pretty sure thatthe family lived in Manchester, not Oldham...some still living there. They moved to Manchester some time between 1890 and 1897 from the north of the county.
I'm the granddaughter of Annie Rawlinson (married name Lewis)who died in 1947. There was one son, John, born 1886 in ULverston. Some of his children are still living, the eldest Tom aged 93 and still in Manchester.
Frances (known as Tassie) born 1890, did not emigrate until she was in her late sixties. She was my father's aunt, made my mother's wedding dress and I remember her coming to visit us in the late 1950's in Southport, Lancashire. IN the 1901 census, several of the family are employed as 'fancy box makers'. There was another Rawlinson living nearby who was in the 'tea and presents trade'..I wondered if the fancy boxes were connected to that.
