Hi Amelia, Having just re-read your message I think I may have misunderstood some earlier information. I thought you'd said that Margaret Askews was Thomas, Joseph and siblings' mother, who married another Thomas Rawlinson. I've spent ages trying to find a record of that marriage, to no avail.... understandable if I've got it wrong. However, I've also failed to come up with anything recognisable as the entire family. I looked for all the siblings individually and did not manage to put together anything that looked like the family, until... I found a Joseph Rawlinson (Sykes)aged 17, sister Jane Rawlinson (Sykes), stepchildren of David Sykes a slate quarrier of Kirkby Ireleth, Lancs, and Margaret aged 52. Joseph and Jane were born in Subberthwaite. Joseph was a labourer at a slate quarry. I would think Joseph is the other twin to my great-grandfather, who is reputed to have died in a fall between the dock and a ship in 1926, while drunk. He worked on the docks on the Manchester Ship Canal. I'm not sure what year he moved down to Manchester. His first few children...my great-aunts and uncle, were born in the Barrow-in Furness/Ravenglass/ ULverston areas, then the rest in Manchester. Could you remind me of who Margaret Askew was, if I've got it wrong? On the national Archive website there are no ASKEWS's...and I've never heard the name with an 's' on the end...but didn't you say it's written in a family Bible? Look forward to hearing more.
