I'm trying to locate a Charles A. Rawlinson, b abt 1881-1883 in NYS. His wife's name was Margaret J. Rawlinson, believed maiden name was McCann from Westport, Ontario. The 1920 Census for San Francisco, CA is as follows: Rawlinson, Charles, Married, b NY, both parents born England, Occupation was Chief Operator at Telegraph Co. Rawlinson, Margaret J., Married, came over from Canada in 1898 and Naturalized, b Canada, both parents born in Ireland. Charles shows up in the 1930 Census for San Francisco, says he's married but there is no mention of Margaret J.. Charles is listed as a Traffic Manager for Western Union Telegraph Co. In the 1910 Census for San Francisco there was listed a Peter Rawlinson, b 1851 in NYS. Might this be a sibling of Charles? Charles is connected to my family through my grandmother, Anastasia McCann Flynn, who married my grandfather John Flynn in Smith Falls, Ontario in 1916, and lived in Watertown, NY. My grandfather became ill and they traveled to San Francisco to see if a change in climate would help. My grandparents and their two sons, John James, Jr., b 1917 in Watertown (my father) and William Joseph, b 1919 in St. Petersburg, FL. They tried Florida's climate before they tried San Francisco. I think there is a real connection with the McCann's of Westport, Ontario. If any of this rings a bell, I would love to hear from you. Thanks, Kathy Notify Administrator about this message?
