Hello Connie,
My wife is descended from John also, from Benjamin's son Williom (asterisk in excerpt from my file below). That John born in 1600s is all I have been able to go back to as well. If you go any further back, please let us know. Also, do you know Avis's last name? Here is an excerpt from our Rawlinson file I put together. The asterisk beside William's name is my wife's ancestor:

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
THE RAWLINSON FAMILY; LINE OF CAROLYN ELIZ. (HEDGE) EDELEN:
XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTE: Some of this info I got from the Rawlinson Website of Perry Rawlinson, and some of it I got from the book, "The History of the Rawlinson Family" by Harry Rawlinson, which he compiled and wrote in 1966. The book basically starts with William Rawlinson, who came from South Carolina to Alabama. The Perry Rawlinson's "Rawlinson line on his Website starts with William's grandparents, John and Avis Rawlinson, and two children, Benjimen and Charles, all forn in St. Paul's Parish, Kent Co., Md. Benjamin (and possibly others) migrated to South Carolina, his son William being born in N.C., probably on the way or something to S.C.. The John Rawlinson born in 1680, and the other two children of John and Avis I got from other sources, researchers, distant relatives, etc.. Asterisks(*) denote Carol's line in lists of siblings and each generation is in dark lettering.
