I have been trying to find more information on Peter Rawlinson born abt 1815 and his daugther Alice born abt 1844. The info that I have so far is from my great-grandmother's journal. Peter married Frances Oldham on 21 Jun 1831 at Cathedral, Manchester, Lancashire, England (from IGI) and they had a dairy produce shop in Cheshire. They also had 2 sons who fought in the Crimean War - born prior 1844. Frances died abt 1855 and Peter advertised for a woman to look after Alice, hired Frances Eyles (born 1827) daughter of John and Mary (Sweet). Her brother George was transported to VDL in 1835 and was in a position to sponsor them and the Eyles family to VDL around 1857.
Peter and Frances lived in VDL for a few years, later moving to mainland Australia where he was an oil dealer. They had another daughter Elizabeth in 1858.
When Alice's brothers in England heard she was living with George (who was older than her 16ys) they came to VDL and tried to take her back to England, but she was happy and stayed, they had 13 children.
Looking for more info re dates of births and also to find the 2 brothers' names. Also hoping to find info on Frances Oldham.
