RAUSCH, ROUSE in Schaghticoke, New York

Several references in histories of the DOTY family claim that Rachel ROUSE (ca. 1780-1846) who married Michael DOTY; and Eleanor ROUSE (ca. 1787-unknown) who married Michael's brother, William DOTY, were the daughters of Peter and Rachel ROUSE.

The daughters' marriages, as well as the births of some of their children, were in Schaghticoke, Rensselaer County, New York, so it's probable that that's where Peter and Rachel lived.

There's every possibility that the surname was actually RAUSCH, ROOSE, or perhaps even ROOSA, and anglicized to ROUSE by DOTY family researchers who didn't want to claim German ancestry at the time of the First World War.

Can anyone help me with ANY information about Peter and Rachel RAUSCH/ROUSE.

Farmington, New Mexico
