My GGgrandfather, James W. Manning was married to Sidnah(Sidney)Raulerson's daughter, Sidnah(Sidney)Pearson. Sidney Pearson married a Moody first, they had four children. My GGgrandfather came from Ireland with his brother to Boston and wound up fighting in the Civil War. He made his way down South where he met Sidney who was a widow. He changed his name to Manning because there were so many Mannings in the area, and probably because he wanted to "fit in" because after all, he was an Irish-Catholic as well as a Union soldier! He married Sidney and they had three children of their own; Thomas (Tom) who never married, Marrieta (Sis) who married but had no children, and my Ggrandfather, Lewis who married Eliza Strickland and had several children to include: Baze, Mazelle, Callie, Alice, etc.

My GGgrandfather WAS NOT the James W. Manning who was the son of John Manning and Mary Ann Burney! The Huxford Files have this information wrong (they also have my Ggrandfather, Lewis, as being married to someone else! Obviously, that is wrong too!) My GGgrandfather and GGgrandmother are buried together in the Raulerson Cemetery in Pierce County, Georgia.

I am trying to find out what my GGgrandfather's REAL name was...

I hope this information helps.

Dixie Montgomery
