Hi Lynn, The Ratterees were first recorded in Chester Co. with Alexander's land grant in 1773. There were several still in the area in mid 1800s, incl Thomas, James, Henry, and John. Alexander had at least 2 sons, John and James, born abt 1765 to 1770, and both in Chester in the 1790s.
I don't find your Sallie in my files, but sounds like she could be a grand or grt grand dau of John or James.
I would think she would show up on the 1870 census as a child in her parents household if b. abt 1862. They might have been in one of the adjacent counties also. I have found some of the family at different times in York, Berkley, and Craven Co. Sorry I could not be more help.
Mike
