I am also researching the Ratteree family. My husband's gggrandmother was Amanada Levinia Ratteree. In the 1860 Missouri census (Madison County),I found a James Ratteree and Thomas Ratteree living right next to each other. James is married to Margaret. They have eight children (nine if Thomas is one of theirs too; in the 1850 Kentucky census, James and Thomas are also living next to each other in Callaway County): Samuel, 18; Nancy 15; Lucinda 14; Sarah 14; David 10; William 7; Mary 7; and George 6. Thomas is married to a woman by the name of Bertha. There children are Mary E. 8; Eliza 4; and Amanda 2. Thomas is 29, which leads me to believe he is James's son. The only Ratteree I have been able to follow to Mountain Grove MO is David.
If this is your family I would love to hear from you. Will be willing to share what little information that I have.
