There has been a great deal of talk about Richard Ratliff that married an Indian lady in Ala. and later went on The Trail of Tears. The book Jackson's White Plumes by Charlotte Adams Hood covers this family and it's members very well. It includes wills and linage. Richard and 2 of his sons helped Andrew Jackson and Davy Crocket fight the Creek Indians. Richard had a trading post in Blount/ Etowah Counties of Ala. He came to Ala after the Revolution from NC.
