RATLIFFs in MS, b in NC
I have a Nancy _____, b Jun 1827 (per 1900 census), showing up as Nancy Ratliff in 1880 Prentiss Co., MS census and 1900 Dallas Co., TX censuses. She was enumerated in 1880 and 1900 in the household of her son-in-law Marcus Lafayette McCARLEY and his wife, undoubtedly her daughter, Helen Frances RATLIFF, b Jun 1851 in NC, with both her parents also b in NC. This looks suspiciously like these RATLIFFs belong to those of the same surname who migrated from Anson Co., NC, to northern MS (chiefly Tippah and neighboring Prentiss counties) in the 1850s. But so far I cannot find a Nancy m to a RATLIFF man in either the 1850 Anson (or other) NC census, nor in a MS (mainly Tippah and neighboring counties) 1860 census. Any idea who these RATLIFFs belong to?
